Italian researchers investigate health of prison babies

For the first time ever, researchers in Italy have investigated the health of children born to imprisoned women. The study examined the clinical diaries of children who had lived in prison for one and half years between 2003 and 2005. The results of the study, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, suggest that these children represent a vulnerable group with specific healthcare needs.
